Being a mom can be challenging, especially in a world that always seems to want to tear them down. So today on Honest to God, John Henry sits down with a couple of Catholic moms who take great pride in the families they’re helping to raise. Although their families still have a lot of growing to do, these moms still have some fantastic advice for any mom who may be having a tough time of it.

Being a dad can be challenging, for starters you have to deal with a new human being that you helped create, and also you’re partly responsible for making them into a functioning member of society. But add on top of that the prosecution that also comes from being a Catholic and a dad at the same time! Now that’s a challenge! But with a few pieces of advice it might be able to be made a bit easier. So join John Henry and a fellow Catholic dad as they talk about all that they’re doing to overcome those challenges. All this and more, on Honest to God!

Stand-up specials are in no short supply on Netflix and elsewhere. Yet much of the comedy popular can be somewhat vulgar. Josh Harris is a Catholic convert who also does Christian comedy. He joins our panel to discuss what makes something funny, how he got into the business, and how comedy can be clean but still actually funny.

If you’ve ever taken a history class you’ve probably heard one story or another about Catholics involvement in historical events. But you might have gotten the wrong story. There are plenty of bad actors that want to distort the truth so it’s hard to look objectively at what’s what. But listen to a few our panelists discuss the truth really is, and where you might have been led astray. This and so much more… on Honest To God.

While many Catholics know about St. Maximilian Kolbe offering his life in place of another man at Auschwitz, not as many know his full backstory, specifically what he did in the months leading up to that moment while in a jail cell with nine other prisoners. Members of the crew of the upcoming movie Triumph of the Heart give an inside look into how the movie was made, what its director entailed for both the actors and crew to do, and how you can help support this movie so it can be released

Katy grew up bouncing around between different denominations.

When she went off to college though, life got rough and she felt lonely. Then she came across Campus Catholic Ministries and while it started her conversion, she had a lot of questions on the Eucharist which when she wanted to become initiated she soon felt a physical pain. Why would that be?

There are plenty of conferences of other denominations that take place in large convention centers.

Catholics actually have one too, put on by FOCUS Missions the first week in January: SEEK. Four college students from Kennesaw State University stop by to explain what the conference is, what it entails, the highs (and lows), and why go.

It’s more important than ever for the Church to try and retain youth with more and more preferring to have no religious affiliation. This is done through youth ministry but even that can be a challenge, especially with technology being such a big distraction. In 2024, what is the best way to get teens to not only come to events but to keep coming and get something out of it so they stay with the faith once they graduate high school? Many parishes use LifeTeen for their Youth Ministry and we have missionaries from there to explain what works and does not work in youth ministry.

Just as there are multiple Lord of the Rings movies there also are multiple HTG episodes on it!

In this second episode of the series, we delve into questions such as why read the book, could there be another mythology series like that today, and is there reason why perhaps one shouldn’t let their kids read it because it’s like Harry Potter in that it promotes magic?
