The Church at large fell into great error….
Many in the hierarchy were morally compromised. Many were too cowardly to stand up for the Truth. Many were just flat-out corrupt.
Political intrigue abounded within the ranks of the hierarchy….
Good bishops were marginalized, sidelined and even forced into hiding. Sound Catholic doctrine seemed to be abandoned wholesale for a new “revolution” in doctrine.
The entire Church seemed on the verge of collapsing.
If you think I’m talking about the Church of today, think again! This was the state of the Church back in the 3rd Century during the Arian crisis! To quote a famous sci-fi show, “This has all happened before. And it will all happen again.”
If history is repeating itself, we need to be prepared for the fight to come.
